Correct, it's a gross over-simplification. Usually it's caused by the
sender sending in a perfectly acceptable MIME format that the receiver
doesn't understand, and it nearly always happens when the receiving end
is using Outlook or OE, which only understands a subset of the full MIME
standard.
I agree, ensure he sends his messages as plain text, and if he's
including attachments, suggest to him that he places them at the END of
messages, after any signature etc. Often these problems are due to the
fact that Outlook/OE just doesn't understand certain types of MIME
content within the body of the message.
Of course, the real solution would be to get the receiving end to use
fully MIME-compatible e-mail software.... :-)
