RE: FN-FORUM OT: Mail duplication
date posted 2nd January 2003 12:27
The only time I have seen mail duplication like that is when I connect
using a dial up line and the line drops before signing off from the pop
server.
You say that you received duplicates of most mails, that would indicate
to me that the problem is not with the forum software but is a problem
at your end (assuming that by most mails you are including non-forum
emails).
Not an expert on that area but I would guess that either the smtp server
is not behaving correctly when the mail is coming in, or there is a
problem with the pop server.
My suggestion would be, if possible, that you use a webmail system to
see what email is waiting for you on the server BEFORE receiving it, if
the duplicates are there then it is a problem before the mail download.
Feel free to use www.readpop.com unless you already have a webmail
system in place.
If the duplicate mails are NOT duplicated on the server but are
duplicated when you receive them then the problem is that the server is
not being told that the emails were received or is failing to remove
them from the server.
Hope that this helps.
Raymond

Subject: FN-FORUM OT: Mail duplication
Morning everyone,
Is anyone else getting 2 of each mail sent to the forum (and most other
mails to). It maybe just me or maybe just a BT thing, but I thought I
would ask if anyone else is the same.
Regards
