RE: FN-FORUM Fujitsu PC Question...

I've got a Tesco PIII/450 (well 500 after the processor went pop).
There's various aspects to upgrading them, but the main thing you should
do is visit the fujistu website
http://www.fujitsu-siemens.co.uk

full info
Then you should be able to find out the full spec of the machine and
what you can do with upgrading. I put a 60gb HD in mine and it would
only recognise 30gb because the BIOS would only go up to that. I then
went ot he manufactueres website and got the updated BIOS and it now
reads the full 60gb quite happily.
It will also tell you what memory it can take and how it's arranged.
Cheers

Subject: FN-FORUM Fujitsu PC Question...
Hi all...
I've just inherited a PC from my father-in-law, which I want to upgrade
a bit. It is one of those Fujitsu ones that Tesco were flogging a couple
of years ago: PII/466, 64MB RAM and Win98. I thought it might be useful
as a server, given a bigger hard drive and some more RAM...
So here's the question, which arises from the fact that I basically know
nothing useful about hardware: I bunged a 256MB DIMM in with the
intention of upping the memory, but it refuses to believe that it has
more than 128MB. I'm wondering if there's some BIOS/jumper/whatever
issue here, but there's sod all information with the system, so I'm a
bit lost.
Any hints gratefully received!
