RE: FN-FORUM Twin Display Question
date posted 5th January 2003 20:41
Hi,
Using Dual monitor is a supreme advantage in development (and learning) and
after using dual display you cant do with less.
One Major Point I would like to stress is OS Compatability, I'm not sure on
issues with TFT Displays, but have had multiple problems with using certain
cards on different OS's. Win2000 being the most pain in the ass. For an NT
System you have to have a card that is supported that is on the HCL, BUT
after finding your card on the list you find win2k does nnot want to use it.
I have tried a multitude of different brand cards on W2K but cannot get dual
support. The closest I got was with an old ISA 512Kb VGA Card, it installed,
and in display properties it seemed like it was working but didnt.
Also With the 5 different VGA cards I regularly use, (ATI Rage IIC, GF 256
Pro, S3866, SiS6326, Cant remember other make), Redhat8 also will not
support dual display with any of these cards.
With Win98 You can work it with any card no problems.
If anyone is thinking I am insane please let me know as the only M$ OS I
want installed is W2K, so tell me if you can help me out.
Just my two pennies.
Nik.
