Hi Darren,
What I would suggest trying is getting an identical (but working) drive and
swap the controller over. In the past I have done that to recover data and
I have then billed the client for the drive+time and it has still worked out
cheaper than the data recovery services.
Why don't you post the drive make/model/size etc on here and see if anyone
has one that is kicking around.

Cheers guys, I've tried every combination of the jumper settings.
Just rebooted to check in BIOS, Nothing.
There's absolutely no sign of it anywhere on the system.
RIP me thinks
ok, if its called for, anybody know of a cheap data recovery
service. sigh . . .
After this fiasco I'm dropping hardware support and sticking to
websites. Bloody thing worked fine this morning.
