Inland Revenue = evil, evil, evil. My other half conveniently forgot about
returns and any kind of paperwork for 4 years. OK, very naughty, but he sent
through the money he owed in the end, including full payment of all the
fines (v v v expensive and not recommended). Poor accountant had to try to
create the return forms for the missing years, but understandably it took a
while to sort out and they were fining us not because he hadn't paid the tax
but because they didn't have the forms through. They finally got the
arseache with him and slapped a £60 a day fine per return they were missing.
Yes, that's a £240 a day fine. Oddly enough, the accountant got moving then,
but a cautionary tale that it's not just the money they want from you!
