There are a few similar roads around here, so what they've done is put 3
additional speed limit signs at 100 yard intervals back from the limit
sign. These look like the three markers you get in the run up to a
motorway/dual carriageway exit with a speed limit sign at the top.
One of the best ideas I've seen put into place by road maintainers.
I'd advocat siphoning off some of the money earmarked for speed cameras
for additional signing like this and reengineering of black (or red)
spot roads. Then concentrate the speed cameras on areas where they're
likely to save lives.
When was the last time you saw a speed camera outside a primary school?
