If no one could exceed the speed limit, zero income from speed cameras...so
the government wouldn't allow it.
Car manufacturers won't want it, as they will struggle to market cars to all
the boy racers, if say cars had reasonable speed limits.
Marketdroids will struggle to glamorise cars if speeding advertising
couldn't be used anymore...
No I can't see it ever take off.

i've yet to work out why the hell speed limiters aren't placed in cars - we
have the tech.
make sure a car is never capable of going about x mph above an areas speed
limit - iirc they designed something like this in north-west university a
couple of years back. the government as ever has shown no interest in it
(perhaps auto manufacturers help fun the new labour project?)
seems sensible to me, stops drivers speeding and would stop most of the
joyriders from trashing cars, save a few lives and save thousands of pounds
since speeding advertsing would no longer be needed.
certainly a hard-core criminal element would find ways of circumventing it
but the more opportunistic types wouldnt
