Company charging VAT after failing to charge intially
date posted 30th January 2003 15:02
Right, just received some mail from a company I purchased a
monitor from early December.
They state that they failed to charge me VAT on the monitor
and are going to charge it to my card on the 31 Jan.
This is true I realise now that there was no mention of VAT
on the invoice I received, but having paid over a month ago -
1/ Isn't it their mistake and down to them to pay it now ?
2/ Surely they have no right to charge my card again without
my consent ?
The actual price I should of paid was on the website although
it took a number of weeks after my order was made for the goods
to arrive during which time I was in contact with the company
regarding the delay. Eventually I had to accept an alternative
model, only in case colouring, to the one I ordered. For this
I was offered a discount, £20, on the purchase price. That is
partly the reason I didn't look more closely at the eventual invoice.
Just had a nother look at the site and the same product is now
£70 cheaper than I paid.
Soooo were do I stand ?
and if it comes to it how can I stop them charging my card ?
tia,
Darren Yates
