The shuttle programme is 23 years old and has only killed 14 people
directly.
That makes it thousands of times safer than driving to work.
Losing a shuttle is big news, but only because there are so few of them
and there has been this emphasis on a 100% safety record.
Still RIP Columbia and all who sailed on her.
