It's not as clear cut as that.
- they obviously have already paid at least a deposit
- legally there are ways to reclaim bad payments.
Unless it is specifically mentioned in the contract or terms and=
conditions you are entering a potential legal minefield.
Now in most situations the client will pay up. But what if the=
client is a larger business with a legal advisor on board - they=
could mke this ugly by saying that you withheld business=
correspondance that you have no right to and that they lost a=
500k contract as a result...
Make sure your T&Cs are very clear on that.
