Instead of:
> @referer = ('hostcenter.com apperleydesign.co.uk thepathoflife.org');

I would try:

@referer = ('hostcenter.com','apperleydesign.co.uk','thepathoflife.org');

I might also try explicitly adding the "www." to those if that failed.
