FN-FORUM: Fixing name data
date posted 25th June 2003 16:40
I've got a client asking about the quality of the data users have been
entering into their database and whether it is possible to fix it
automatically.
To elaborate; some users have entered all caps in their name &
surname, some have no-caps, some users have foreign names that do not
require capitalisation, others have double barrelled names with one
half not capitalised. The company is global, so there are plenty of
arabic and nonstandard charagters in the DB already.
So, does anyone have any experience doing this kind of thing and some
code they could throw my way (it's ASP/MSSQL, but I can translate
logic) to save me the bother of researching all the possible
combinations of capitalisation a name can have?
