Oh sure, someone will do it - apple might.

Its impossible to know - they ought to, after all a sale is a sale and it helps
push the brand. OTOH they also want you to buy into their system which is
looking increasingly complete and - if you're prepared to cough up the sub -
more and more like a turnkey appliance every week.
