RE: FN-FORUM: 1+1 Ms Hosting

I've had a lot of those problems with 1+1 MS hosting, the redirection
not working was the most annoying. Personally I wouldn't use them
because the support is so slow and unreliable but a client of mine has a
reseller package with them and insists on using it. I recommend
www.hostek.net cheaper, great support and just better all round. You
can't set your own permissions with them but they usually respond to
support requests within 1 hour, often less! [/plug]

Subject: FN-FORUM: 1+1 Ms Hosting
Hi,
I've been using 1+1 Linux hosting for a good while and never any
problems at
all...
I have recently (3-4 weeks) signed up for a 1+1 ASP package and have had
the
following problems...
1) Initially, I could not log into the Admin script to change file
permissions. (Eventually sorted after support call which they denied
everything)
2) Yesterday, the only domain on the package (at the moment) which was
pointed to a subdirectory on the webspace ended up pointing itself back
to
the root of the webspace (which contained nothing). The config panel
showed
the correct redirection, but changing it had no effect. I sent a support
request to them which I have rceceived no reply as yet, but the problem
has
fixed itself.
3) Now today, an access Db which had write priveleges has just decided
to
become read only. Unfortualy at the moment I can't access the admin
script
to fix this so don't know whether it's a quick fix or a more sever
problem!
At the mo, I have only got one devt site on this package but am
concerned
that if I used it for client sites or sites which required the access db
or
other files to be updateable, then probs such as the above would reduce
the
quality of the service I provide to unacceptable levels. i.e. I don't
fancy
being sued for lost business for sites down or dead scripts.
Therefore, does anyone else have experience of the 1+1 MS hosting, or
any
other MS hosting for that matter (as I have always used Linux), who can
let
me know whether such probs are/will be common or is it just my bad luck
over
the last few weeks.
Also, is there anyway I can write a webside ASP script which like I
could do
in PHP/Linux would do a `chmod` on the relevant directories to reset
permissions rather than relying on the providers own scripts. That way
if
the site is up I can at least reset permissions to gain full access
again!
Cheers,
Chris.
