I had the same problem with my Pentax optio 230 digicam and I found that the
NiMH batteries were pretty much as bad, the only ones that really work well
are the lithium batteries. Ever Ready do a pair of AAs for around a fiver -
may seem expensive but you wouldn't believe how long they last and they're
getting cheaper all the time, last year I couldn't get any for less than
fifteen quid.
Also, if the camera has a view finder, turn off the LCD as this just turns
NiMHs and alkalines into ex-batteries very quickly.
