Get a matrox if you want two screens.
Nvidia can make a decent card for this purpose but it's like an add-on
rather than a feature it was designed for, whenever I've tried the other
route it's always been a little less than perfect...
If it's not gaming why would you want an ATI or an Nvidia?
You should be able to pick up a Matrox G400 dirt cheap, =A340, less ?=20

The latest Matroxes (Pnnn) can handle one DVI and two analogue screens
simultaneously.
You can never have enough screen space :-)
