I think the point is if I have a book sat next to me with the answer in,
but I can't be bothered to pick it up and find the answer so I ask
someone else to look for me, its not fair on the other person. Why
should they use their time to answer my question for me when I'm capable
of doing it myself.

Of course ask questions, but the first point of call should be the book
sat next to you.

If I need the answer to something, I try google and my text books first,
if I still need help then I ask on a forum or mailing list.
