Re: FN-FORUM Copying music off the internet
date posted 30th June 2003 22:52
Hi Paul,
My interest in this comes from a stint spent in community radio and also a
spell in film production. For radio I remember having to get licenses
sorted out with the PRS to allow us to broadcast stuff and the MCPS for any
copying we did.
With the film stuff it was MCPS and then individual rights for a track -
synchronisation rights, rights to use it on soundtrack CDs, etc.
The copyright and IPR arrangements around music are totally arcane - I
really hoped that we'd get soemthing sensible sorted out for the new century
but I think it's just going to get crazier!
Joe
