since the SEO wizards abused the meta keywords tag to get their sites
higher up the search engines the search engines (nearly all of them) now
ignore the keywords meta tag - other uses for it are still valid.
Optimising a page for a keyphrase means that within the text on the page
your phrase or keywords should appear often and in context.
use of your keyphrase in headings (on the page) will also help.
Having other people link to your site using your keyphrase is good to.
word of caution trying to get top results for a keyphrase with hidden
text or mass repetition won't help.
The best sites rise to the top because they have the best content, most
frequently updated with the most inbound links.
(well that's the theory anyway)
