I recently quit my full-time job as lead web designer at Harrods to move
to Brighton and go freelance. The work's coming in, but I have to say not
really through any geographical method - mostly through agencies I used
to work with in London.
The web design community down here does seem to be thriving/saturated,
but the seaside lifestyle I love!
I left the relative security of a full-time position because 2 years of
working on mainly one website does not a comprehensive portfolio make.
Plus I needed a bit more variety. As it turns out though, some of the
contract work I'm doing is requiring a (long) commute back to London each
day!
regards,
Paul
