We've used various software to get the 360 panorama effect, though I
certainly wouldn't put any of us up as experts.

What seems to be more of a trend of late though is simply using flash, I
know we're replacing a couple of panorama's using this method on current
site upgrades. It does provide improved download times.

Don't know if it helps, but it could be an easier alternative for you.
