Hi Craig,

Oracle PL/SQL is case sensitive and I don't think that you can change this
behaviour (not in 8i anyway).

The last project I worked on had all the data stored in UPPERCASE, but if
you don't have this luxury then get ready to use lots of UPPER() functions
in your code ;-)

Isn't that article all related to Microsoft SQL Server? I'm working with an
Oracle database (which I'm new to!) and I remember reading somewhere it's
case-sensitive by default... hrm...

SQL is.. By default case-insensitive..

Oracle it seems is a bit fussy when it comes to character case: does
anyone know how to 'turn-off' its case-sensitive tendancies, i.e.:

SELECT firstname, lastname from EmployeeTab WHERE lastname like
'stOKeS%';
