RE: FN-FORUM: Americanising textMOre info

date posted 7th August 2003 21:55

Hi all,

first thanks to all who tried to help - unfortunately I was on a 45 min
timescale - so not all suggestions were practical. However, I managed to get
something sent off with a combination of known spelling issues and
find/replace along with continually telling Word to use the Us dictionary -
bastard kept reverting. I finally sent off a 'draft' version. (PS quark std
dictionary ain't very helpful)

Then the fun began, I decided to try changing the language settings of my 98
machine with the view of improving what I had done. And BOLLOCKS! It has
took me the past 6 hours to get back into the machine. SOO please be warned
if you are not fully aware of what can happen if you try to change regional
settings - it can trully fuck up your day, so back up all important files to
your spare machine just like I did - not!

;-)

Theresa

What platform/version are you using? Have you tried temporarily
resetting your language settings and then running word.

Regards
Deborah

Hi all,

I need to 'americanise' a manual I have written, I thought I'd extract
the
text from Quark and run the US dictionary in Word on it. But although I
keep
selecting the US english - it keeps reverting to UK english. Any ideas?
Or
alternate ways of doing it?

Theresa
