I have a client who uses the service and asked for a referrer log report
so that they can confirm the number of
paid clickthroughs that GAW service is charging for. Evidently the
numbers quoted in the GAW invoice were
somthing like twice the total number of hits seen (in a dynapage driven
web site - so no page caching etc).
This is what started him worrying. The cost of setting up the automated
daily report (cron job with plain text email
report - done in less than a day) provided enough proof that he managed
to get Google to refund thier 'mistake'.
Many logfile analysers will provide this sort of report almost out of
the box. If you have apache then enable
the combined logging and test it before enabling GAW. netter to be safe
than sorry.
