Re: FN-FORUM: Cheap international calls
date posted 13th August 2003 18:37
I've been using Onetel for over 4 years (to call Australia at 4p per min
anytime) and up until this month I'd have recommended them without a
thought - but - they seem to have gone on a hard sell very recently.
They call regularly to see if you want any extra services and the last one
was rather misleading and I ended up agreeing to sign over all my calls to
them!
How might this have happened? You may be wondering - Weeeeell, the guy on
the phone said,
"This is just a courtesy call to let you know that we're upgrading to a new
'Select' service...." only when he'd checked my contact details etc and then
summed up did it become clear that what was happening is my calls would all
go via OneTel (situation reversal - dial an access code to use BT)!
Well, needless to say I called up and complained and cancelled it when but I
did so the guy I spoke to tried to re-sell me the product!!!! I was
adamant - NO!
A week passes.
I receive 2 letters stating that my phone calls will now go through OneTel.
One from BT and one from OneTel.
I called them up to check it was cancelled and got: "Yes, they are
automatically generated letters, it is definately cancelled. Are you sure
you're not interested in the service?" NO! "Oh, well, would you like one of
our services for your mobile phone?" NO!!!!!
Well, I know it happens and I should have expected it and to say it's the
first annoying incident in over 4 years it's not bad - but it's affected the
way I view them and, as you can see from the tirade, my recommendation of
them...
Nita
;o)
Just had to say it.
