Yep - S-Spline is a very tasty program. I use it most often to transform
bitmaps into vectors - take an image, blow it up about 400% and trace it
with the Pen tool. I used that technique on this

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/1308464/ . I have actually got one of
the Hemera collections - an older one - a meagre 30,000 images on it.
They're very useful actually - mainly because they come with full alpha so
you don't have to arse around cutting them out.
