They don't do a lot for 18%. I wouldn't have chosen to do it that way if
I'd have realised the offer was still going to charge me 16.2%.
It was a case of overpaid PAYE but I didn't have time to figure out how to
get tax return documents because when I tried to register for doing it
online they told me I needed some code but no one I called seemed to be
able to tell me how to get the code.

Basically I thought that the company would have some sort of relationship
with the tax office which meant that they would indeed get the refunds
sorted in 4-6 weeks. Instead it turns out they just send off my documents
and sit on their back sides until I call them up to ask what's going on,
they say they'll call the tax office, sit on their back sides a bit more
til I call asking what's going on again and they say "Oh the tax office
phone number is engaged." [sigh]
The whole thing's doing my head in. I'm going to call the tax office on
Monday to find out if I can sign something to take away the company's
authority over my affairs. It might leave me in hot water with regards to
the fact that I've signed a contract with them but considering they've been
lying to the tax office and treating me badly, well, I'm just fed up and
I'll take the consequences.

The other reason was because I have to do taxes in Australia as well which
I happily do over the internet but I'm yet to get my head completely around
the british system. I need to get an accountant type person, or atleast
have a chat with one. My own business hasn't been running that long and
perhaps my best bet is to go on a short course to get everything explained
to me.
