You can pay 10 quid (I think it's still this) under the DPA and get them to
send you ALL the details they hold, however if the details relate to a
contract or financial transaction then they are obliged to keep them for
IR/HMC&E (it used to be seven years but is now indefinitely). This is what
makes the law such as ass

However records kept for this purpose CANNOT be used for any other. i.e.
they cannot use this data for any other purpose than completness of
tax/sales records so cannot use or disclose them for marketing (even
internally) unless you want them to.
