VPN passthrough means that the router allows PPTP and/or IPSEC (ports and
protocols) to pass through to an existing (defined) VPN server on the
internal network, rather than providing the VPN server itself. Often used in
the SBS world or anywhere that the router is on the wrong side of a DMZ and
ending the VPN at that point would leave you outside the LAN.
Most routers allow you to configure at least PPTP passthrough easily.
