I reckon it's worth doing a reinstall every so often. With W98 I had to
reinstall every few months in order to get rid of those rogue files that
seem to slow everything down. But with W2K I've only just reinstalled after
2 years of use, and then only to repartition the hard drive.
The W98 years got me into the habit of having a CD ready, filled with the
latest drivers and commonly used programs that I could use to reinstall
easily. Somebody else mentioned making an image of your hard drive once all
the basics are installed, just so you can revert every few months and get
rid of all the crap that accumulates. Of course, you have to keep your data
and OS on separate partitions for that to work...
