One other thing I'd like to say here.

In 4 years use of Gnome and Linux I've never, ever had the damned thing lock
up on me.

I've done heavy graphics editing while playing mp3s with many browser
windows open and Star Office open with huge documents and spreadsheets and
it's just never happened.

The only problem I've had is when I've used a Win98 based ftp to upload
files to a webserver from my Linux server, Samba locks the files and won't
release them unless it's restarted. As I only use Win98 for email and office
apps this isn't even a real problem.
