Linux IS usable as a dev platform, I found Mandrake 8.1 a doddle, even with
a Prophet4500 graphics card.
Driver support on the whole is pretty good, as is KDE etc, main thing I use
it for now is an apache box on an old 486.
Mainly because I switched to RedHat 9 and I cant get MX to run very well in
Wine - same with UO - something nasty using Glib 2 whereas RH9 has Glib3.
Its all greek to me!
Personally my idea setup - where all my spare cash is being saved towards,
is an old 300 with Apache, an nice 2600+ for games and the wife, and an iMac
for work :)
And I KNOW they can talk to each other - the wonders of TCP/IP :)
