I have, but only:
a) because I'm regularly playing around with strange new hardware...
b) ...including hardware 3D (which is still a little immature on Linux -
compared with SGI, say) and TV cards (which have some rather extreme
demands)
c) when a disc has gone bad whilst in use.
d) because I run on x86 hardware, for which the standards that exist aren't
always followed by all manufacturers. I'll happily admit that this
explains a proportion of Windows crashes too.
e) when I'm playing around with some software that isn't really ready for
prime-time yet. You don't have to, but with Linux you're able to
participate in the development so sometimes it's hard not to be tempted!
