I guess they're talking about simultaneous database connections. I can
kind of see their point (but not their technique of encouraging an upgrad=
e),
if you're on a shared server and using quite a lot of shared resource.
Although, I'm sure MySQL and PostgreSQL should go up to 500 simultaneous
connections or more if suitably configured (maybe they are running with
defaults - I tuned ours to start off with a maximum of 250).

With 100 simultaneous database connections I wouldn't say it's overkill t=
o
move it to a dedicated server. Overkill depends on what spec server you'=
re
getting for the above price and how much bandwidth, you should be able to=
get
a dedicated server for half that price that can handle that kind of load =
easily.
I could sort you out with a (UK hosted - not US) server for half that pri=
ce. :)
We're planning on launching our low spec budget 500 quid/year servers in =
a few
weeks. :)
