Subject: FN-FORUM: Data Protection Scam
Hi all
Just received a letter in the post this morning from the 'Data
Protection Agency' requesting I complete a form and send £95 immediately
- The letter states its a final notice with a £5000 fine if unpaid
(Quite alarming!!!) after a quick google I discover its a scam,
obviously!
It looks really, really convincing though, complete with contact details
etc... One of the first things that seemed odd though was a
Stoke-on-Trent address not the usual London you'd expect!
I found the following Gov site with details of the scam...
http://www.dataprotection.gov.uk/dpars.htm
Apologies if this has already been discussed in the past...
Paul
