Re: FN-FORUM: geo-targetting ad-servers
date posted 21st August 2003 18:03
This isn't as simple as it seems ( although you only pay when they
click through, so it's not too bad ). I've build up a website for a
mate who sells kites for a living. To increase the exposure, I started
up with the adwords at google.=20
You can set it up so that it targets specific languages... great, I'll
choose English. Now comes the tricky bit. Which googles do I want it
to come up on. How many people type in google.com and use the us
site??? That's one. Number 2 is probably a bit specific to me, as I
have the misfortune to have to get my broadband through Satellite.
This means that I keep ending up on google.de, 'cos that's where the
signal comes down.
So, we get hits from google.ie ( not too bad ), google.com.au, you get
the picture.
I'm not knocking the service ( it's upped our hits by 20% or so ), but
just saying that it's not quite as simple as it says!
And if anyone wants to get into kiting or mountain boarding....!
Cheers,
Steve
