I host sites with 1and1 and their help is far from helpful.
Having said that, as long as your Perl scripts have the line
#!/usr/bin/perl
at the very top and have a .pl extension you should be OK.
Are you sure you've got the right hosting package? The basic £5.99 a month
one
doesn't support custom CGIs, something I fell foul of when I setup
dogsincoats.com.
