FN-FORUM: DNS - Primary and Secondary

Had a bout of server outages so recently switched host but still have the old hosting account running. Is it wise / possible to use
both DNS like this

Primary : NS1.newhosts.com
Secondary: NS1.oldhosts.com

If the first hosts server fails will it then bring the site from the old hosting comapny into play?
