RE: FN-FORUM: [OT] Is 80,000 miles too much

Yea - problem is that I know absolutely bugger all about cars and so I'm
just not prepared to buy one privately - it's dealer or nowt. I know there's
a cost penatly involved, but it's one I'm happy to pay. That said, I did
feel it was over-priced. And funnily enough, the bloke thinks so too! Just
got off the phone with him 'yea, I was thinking about this and I do think
it's slightly over-priced at 7 so I've dropped it to 6700.' Not enough for
me though - I told him I'd have it at six. He did tell me that Dovercourt
who are the main VW dealers in Bristol have just gone bust and that there
might be some good deals to be had... so I think a trip into town is in
order :)

80k miles is high, but like you said, not for a golf. I've had 5 or 6 with
that sort of mileage and you don't spend much keeping em in shape.
They're fast, I've written three off...
But 6 and half grand?! I've never spent that much on a golf that old.
