Spot on! I'm as guilty as the rest, never reading the Help or FAQs
unless I've had a few minutes swearing...

We learned that with the M$ updates - if it's working fine, do you
'really' need the latest fix? SP4 for W2K obviously did not like some of
the software, drivers or configurations I was using.
Having said that, by not using OE and limiting IE6 to a brief testing
role, I have got back to the previous reliability I enjoyed - and Mac
users with experience of Win98 will be pleasantly surprised with the
stability of W2K (esp in a clean install) and much as I dislike the UI
with XP, I hear it is now very reliable...

On a related thread, having wondered about a dual boot a while ago,
could any of the *nix users suggest an 'out of the box' install for a
spare partition. Not, at this stage, too bothered about what apps will
run under it, but I'm hearing more and more about it being 'desktop
ready' and would love to have a play - as long as it doesn't take days
to config all the peripherals...

Paul.
