That's not that much really to just store in a database. If the pages could
potentially be a lot bigger or you can't get access to a decent database
system (like if Access was your only option or sum...

I've done this a few times on various platforms. It depends on several
factors, doe he want a backend form to just input the stuff in or does he

archiving the old page (i.e if he had just uploaded november_story.htm,

Most of my sites are 404'd (if they run a db) abs. no probs with google or any other SE, a spider uses something set between http1.0
and http1.1 and so you get a 200 OK returned, just to be safe thoug...

ErrorDocument 404 /404.html.
where /404.html is the path to the page you want to display
directive to your httpd.conf...

In an IIS environment... It's just a normal page but you get your server

That would have been me.
Using that check last time it had 200 OK as a sub header, but 404 as the
main status. In the end I went with some check that got the string off the
page name and that worked...
