I'm aware that Demon was the first cheap ISP - it grew out of the 'tenner a
month' group on CIX - sorry if I gave the impression that Demon was a closed
conferencing system. I remember setting up the software that you downloaded
to use Demon before they bought out there 'packaged' connectivity solution.
It was a DOS based TCP/IP stack and boy was it fun and games to get going!
I moved to the Trumpet Winsock stack on Windows 3.1 as soon as I could -
much better. In fact, I still run it on a clapped out old laptop that won't
run much else...:-)
I stopped using CIX when I went to Demon, and stopped using The Well when
many of the people I spoke to there were finally able to communicate with me
via cheaper means.
