From what I can gather from reading
http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/docs/bootprocess.html and the other docs
there, it implies that the on-board boot image is a Windows 2000
micro-kernel with just enough drivers in-kernel to read another image
(either a game image on a DVD, or the XBox dashboard from the hard drive),
which presumably contains the rest of the necessary drivers. So, in
conclusion, it runs W2K.
