I guess you may be right, but do you need or ever use anything like that
many fonts? How many of those are utter crap?
I've got a couple of CDs boasting X thousands of fonts, of which less
than 100 have ever been used - and I can browse through the CD without
having to install any...
What I have found useful is to set up a free account at myfonts.com
where you can group fonts-u-like in virtual 'albums' to browse, test and
take screen shots, and eventually purchase if needed. It's often
serendipity, but I've got a great collection to access, whatever the
requirement.
