I think that's a fine summary, and all the wandering on/off topic has
been very informative. I still haven't got round to trying *nix as a
desktop environment, and probably won't for a while yet - but then I've
tried XP and won't use that either.
Hopefully by the time support for W2K stops, there will be an easy
enough Linux install for those of us who just 'like it to work' out of
the box ;-)
