You can? How long would it take to go through the registry

I don't agree at all. Grepping /etc/ for something is quick and=20
convenient; locate *.conf and *.cnf also works nicely.

Ah. Any sign of consistency yet from Redmond? IME every new
version of Windows has a whole new way of configuring things.
