FN-FORUM: Sessions / framesets
date posted 21st January 2004 10:50
Hi All
Part of a website that was built in 1922 (by apes) has a frameset in order
to conceal the fact that the site is actually sitting on an ugly domain...
the title bar shows
http://www.nicedomain.com
and the content is coming from
http://www.lkajsdlkqwlme.com/~asdasd
like this:
I appreciate that this is hateful.
Now - in the ugly-url site, some sessions are started to record some user
actions - they used to work fine (a while ago... months/years), but now they
do not work in IE. The sessions are not stored at all. They work fine in
Mozilla Firebird.
I'm thinking that IE isn't working properly here because it's thinking it's
on the nice domain and not reporting it's sessions/cookies to the ugly
domain... which is a bit daft as it's only a frameset, and no
cross-cleverness is actually happening at all.
Has anyone else come across similar problems? I know I've rambled a bit,
but hey - I'm still wearing my pyjamas and haven't had a cup of coffee yet.
Cheers,
Dan.
