Is this thread not dead yet????? I am not a freelance newbie but I am open
to ideas and possibilities; this does not mean that I do work for free (far
from it), but it has been documented time and time again that somebodies
'life long idea' has often resulted in serious returns. Speculate,
accumulate etc etc if our culture did not work like this we would never be
able to form constructive partnerships and would be only capable of simple
independance rather than being able to develop interdependant relationships
with other organisations / people. I hav been involved with an organisation
for nearly 3 years now and hav not been paid in any shape or form for any of
my consultancy services, this organisation who may I say 95% of people on
this list would have told to piss off long ago is now returning with a job
worth about £250K. Not bad for someones inital 'good idea'. I think people
are savvy enough to know when someone is simply wanting you to get work done
for no money and if so you will always have the opportunity to walk away
from the work / idea. Also if you are desparate for work why you would spend
time offfering nothing more than altruism is beyond me. Many ideas before,
during and after the .com boom have been turned into rather successful and
highly lucrative businesses. I think you should always remain open to
listening to ideas and it is very easy to spot different and relevant Belbin
Team profiles in these cases - a genuine Plant often entrepreneurs with the
usual shortcoming of never having enough money to get often very good ideas
off the groound or a simple Company Worker charachter who is pissed off with
their current status in life thinks they deserve more - materialistically
focussed and wants to get their brilliant life comsuming idea off the ground
as a means to get out of their current life choice. Both are quite easy to
spot in my experience and I have met many that fall into both categories,
one group is very interesting the other transparently desparate and dull.

Best Regards

John Kyle
