don't pay,
at a minimum to stop your clients doing it to you...

get a deposit or at least agree staged payments,=20
give them a specification/proposal which lists all the main chunks of wor=
k.=20
date it and sign it. keep a copy.
This is useful for negotiating staged payments.
stop working if they stop paying.
County court costs very little for small claims and is quite simple, but =
you=20
must have the paperwork.
Verbal agreements mean bugger all, phone calls even less. Always write =
a=20
letter.
